Kuala Lumpur, Tuesday, 3 March 2026 – Lim Seong Hai Capital Berhad (“LSH Capital” or “the Group”) today hosted “云端挥毫·城市同书 – Calligraphy Above the City” at HEMISFERA Luxury Sky Hall, Kuala Lumpur Tower, in conjunction with Chap Goh Mei, which traditionally marks the close of Chinese New Year celebrations.

The event was co-organised with The Federation of Calligraphy Society Malaysia, and brought together more than 30 calligraphy artists, alongside members of the public and students, for a cultural programme featuring a Lion Dance and a live calligraphy session. In a reflection of Malaysia’s multicultural identity, the event also featured the participation of two non-Chinese contributors: Mr. Khairil Faizal Hj. Othman (Malay, who wrote in Jawi), CEO of Kuala Lumpur Tower, and an officer from the Malaysia Book of Records (“MBOR”) (Indian, who wrote in Tamil). Their participation underscored the event’s broader intent of cultural appreciation and inclusivity beyond a single tradition, while maintaining the spirit of festive unity.

YB Puan Teo Nie Ching, Deputy Minister of Communications, also graced the event with her presence, joining us in celebrating the rich cultural heritage that brings our nation together.

Successful Malaysia Book of Records Attempt

The event marks a key highlight with LSH Capital, together with Kuala Lumpur Tower, successfully completed a MBOR attempt titled “HIGHEST ALTITUDE CALLIGRAPHY WRITING EVENT IN A SKYSCRAPER”. The record attempt was achieved through a large-scale, collective calligraphy creation, celebrating the spirit of unity, blessings and prosperity in an iconic setting above the city skyline.

Cultural Heritage As Part of ESG Commitment

LSH Capital views cultural heritage preservation and community engagement as a practical part of its “Social” pillar under their Environmental, Social and Governance (“ESG”) agenda. Beyond philanthropy, the Group supports programmes that strengthen social cohesion, encourage intergenerational knowledge transfer, and create inclusive community moments that are accessible and meaningful to the public.

Chinese calligraphy, in particular, represents a traditional artform that carries values of discipline, learning, respect and identity, and remains an important cultural heritage in Malaysia’s multicultural society. By bringing the activity to an iconic national landmark like Kuala Lumpur Tower and organising it in a collective format, the event aimed to make cultural appreciation more participatory, while reinforcing shared festive themes of unity, prosperity and goodwill.

Tan Sri Datuk Seri Lim Keng Cheng, Chairman of LSH Capital, said, “Chinese calligraphy is more than an artform, it is a living heritage that connects generations through shared values and traditions. Hosting Calligraphy Above the City and our successful MBOR attempt in conjunction with the Chinese New Year season reflects our commitment to community-building as part of our ESG agenda, by creating an inclusive platform for cultural participation. We will continue to support initiatives that preserve heritage, strengthen social connection, and contribute positively to Malaysia’s multicultural society.”

Mr. Adam Ng, representative of The Federation of Calligraphy Society Malaysia, expressed: “We are delighted to be part of this meaningful event. Through the calligraphy activities held at the world-renowned Kuala Lumpur Tower, Chinese calligraphy is no longer just a common tradition frequently practised in ordinary settings, but a cultural heritage that can be elevated to prestigious platforms. With the participation of various ethnic groups, we also witness how the art of calligraphy can serve as a valuable tool to promote national unity.”

“Hosting the first calligraphy event at Kuala Lumpur Tower in conjunction with our 30th anniversary marks a meaningful step in how we curate experiential cultural moments at iconic landmarks. By bringing traditional art into an immersive setting above the city, we are not only elevating appreciation for heritage but also creating memorable, participatory experiences for visitors. Initiatives like this reinforce our role in advancing Malaysia’s tourism and cultural agenda through innovative, experience-driven programming,” added Mr. Khairil Faizal Hj Othman, Chief Executive Officer of Kuala Lumpur Tower.
